To assist you, here are a few of the most commonly asked questions:

Q1. What color of covers for briefs, and how long can the briefs be?
For color, format, etc., briefs must comply with Rule 9. For content, length, etc., briefs must comply with Rule 38. "Oral Argument Requested" must appear on the cover sheet of the brief.
Q2. How many copies?
Motions – original & 2.
Briefs – original & 7.
Motions for Rehearing - original & 3.
Q3. What are the fees?
The fees charged by the court can be found at http://www.11thcoa.courts.state.tx.us/fee.asp.
Q4. What about length of time during oral argument?
Cases heard in Eastland Court of Appeals courtroom: Civil–20/20/5; Criminal–15/15/5.

Transferred cases heard in the Dallas Court of Appeals courtroom will be afforded 20/20/5 (civil & criminal), according to Dallas local rules.

Transferred cases heard in the Houston (1st Court of Appeals) courtroom will be afforded 15/15/5 (civil & criminal), according to Houston (1st) local rules.

Transferred cases heard in the Houston (14th Court of Appeals) courtroom will be afforded 30/30/15 or 20/20/10 (civil & criminal), depending on panel, according to Houston (14th) local rules.

"Oral Argument Requested" must appear on the cover sheet of the brief.

To request additional time for argument, or permission for an attorney to argue other than the attorney of record, written request must be filed with the clerk of court at least 2 weeks prior to submission date.
Q5. Do you accept filings by fax?
No, we do not.
Q6. What are the directions to the Eleventh Court of Appeals' courtroom in Eastland?
Going west on I-20 (from Fort Worth), take Exit 343. Take a right at the intersection and go approximately 1½ miles. You will pass McDonalds on the right, Wal-Mart Supercenter on the right, cross a small bridge, and then come to a red light. The courthouse will be on your left. The courtroom and clerk's office are located on the third floor.

Going east on I-20 (from Abilene), take Exit 340. Take a left at the intersection and go under the overpass. You will be on Highway 6. Go approximately 1½ miles on this road, and you will come directly to the courthouse, which will be on your left. The courtroom and the clerk's office are located on the third floor.
